
and so you see, HERO is in fact synonymous with SACRIFICE. you call it a hero so as to cleanse yourself of the guilt, but it is your hero who you expect to walk through the flames for you. with or without armor, holding excalibur or holding his own weight, that is what you require in good faith. you stand back and watch as he battles your dragons, wages war with your demons, dies for your sins. you cheer in order to mask the relief, tears streaking down your cheeks in mourning. he is as much a man as you. he bleeds as red as you. and you will use that blood to salvage your own, will you not? you will allow him to believe that the blood you spill is on his hands, will you not? he will not seek cleansing, and you will not offer it. he will need validation, and you will not afford it. you will let him believe that he wields death when it is death that you have allowed to wield to him. and you know why? because he is not your hero. he is not your cape and cowl, your knight in shining armor, your david with a slingshot. no, he is not your hero.
