         THERE  IS  A  HALF  EMPTY  STRAWBERRY  MILKSHAKE  BEFORE  HER  !   And  the  blonde  sitting  across  from  her  is  giving  her  a  once-over  which  she  shrinks  away  from   slightly .  ❛  I  don’t  know  Betty  the  high  pony  is  sorta  my  signature  .  ❜  A  finger  absently  twirls  the  straw  in  her  glass  ,  as  chin  comes  to  rest  on  her  palm  .  ❛  I  don’t  think  I  could  lose  it  even  for  prom  .  Besides  ,  it’s  not  like  anyone  has  asked  me  yet  anyway  …  ❜

          Betty pauses, straw falling from between her teeth as she points a single digit over her shoulder and at the tussled blonde waves held in her own version of a ponytail: loose, relaxed and low. “ Trust me, I get it. If I could, I’d wear sneakers to prom. If I didn’t think Veronica would cut both legs off, I’d do it, too. In my HUMBLE opinion, you should do whatever you want. ” She almost forgets to address the latter half of that problematic statement. “ And who cares? Yeah, it’d be NICE to have a date but… we’re going to be with our friends. That’s the part we’ll remember for years to come. ”
