“ Nice to see all this PRESTIGE and EXCITEMENT hasn’t gone to your head. ” Not that there had been some substantial doubt. Cedric wasn’t the sort to let that happen. It was no HUFFLEPUFF thing, either –– it was just a Cedric Diggory thing. Or so Betty theorized; she didn’t actually say any of this out loud. Instead, she slipped him a rolled up thing of cookies, smiling CHEEKILY. Wax parchment paper was faintly stained with melted chocolate, inside they were golden snowflakes in how uniquely delicious each one was. Plus –– despite the brisk air lashing Betty’s ponytail about, they were still warm enough to melt in your hands.
“ The house-elves are finally starting to chill out. I baked these this morning! Go on; try them. Tell me if you can taste the SECRET INGREDIENT and I might forgive you for bailing on Quidditch Practice so you can snog it up with your girlfriend. ” Her stomach tightened like an elastic stretched too thin, but the smile on her face was easy, not at all the face of a girl in love with her best friend.
