The lady drawing her blood was giving her definite ‘you’re weird but I have to be here so that’s why I’m smiling politely’ vibes. Just because Betty had ( GLEEFULLY –– like a child ) sighed that she loved donating blood. She did it twice a year, more if she could; the sensation of so easily helping someone not lost on her. The first time she’d done it, it hadn’t quite hit her the IMPACT she was making on someone’s life until she saw it in action.
Part of her passion for medicine stemmed from that first donation, that first life saved because Betty Cooper just so happened to share a blood type. It was so simple too; the wooziness passed early for her. She had a whole process, following. Lots of fluids, lots of taking it easy, lots of cookies she’d baked beforehand, and usually ended up passing around, regardless of what craft services were available.
She didn’t feel right admitting it though, but there may have been… ULTERIOR motives for this particular donation. She’d forgotten about a quiz that would make up 5% of her grade, and dashed for the ready excuse of the blood drive. She hadn’t been the only one. Betty burned with shame. Beside her was Toni, a needle in her arm and taking it like a champ. “ I’m almost afraid to ask, but you’re in Carlyle’s class, right? ”
