7. …to shut them up.
betty’s always talked far too much, in his opinion.
whether she’s ranting at him about stealing her mac and cheese, or about some jerk in one of her classes, betty never seems to know when to quit. a lot of the time, when it’s not vitriol directed at him, reggie’s content to sit back and watch her go, because he finds it inexplicably adorable and impossibly endearing. there’s something about the way her cheeks flush while’s building steam, the way her hands flail when she’s worked up, and how she bounces on the spot when she’s feeling especially aggrieved about something. he can never get enough of the way she goes bright red when the abrupt realisation that she’s been babbling slams into her, leaving her more embarrassed than anything. he’ll tease her, then, and she’ll slap him on the arm and tell him he’s a jerk and it’s good. it’s familiar. but lately… familiar just hasn’t been enough for reggie. he’s found himself wanting more than that.

he doesn’t know when he realised that the more he’s been waiting is the kind of more that means waking up next to betty cooper and seeing her smile, warmer and brighter than even the sunlight spilling through the gaps in the curtain. the kind of more that meant seeing if his hands would fit as perfectly on her waist as he’s always thought they would. the kind of more that means finally getting to taste that damn strawberry shortcake lip gloss she’s always wearing. betty’s gripping his forearms with a strength that’s quickly becoming bruising, but her eyelids are fluttering in that way a girl’s eyelids only ever do when he’s doing a great fucking job and she’s rocking up onto her toes to kiss him back. betty makes a breathy little sound against his mouth when he tries to pull back, chases his lips. reggie can’t help but grin, pressing his forehead against hers and chuckling when that makes her giggle.
