his  pain  should  bring  joy  to  her  ,  not  bring  worry.  worries  just  wasn’t  something  tough  guy  like  him  cared  about.  well  ,  maybe  he  does  worry  when  one  of  his  boys  or  his  girls  gets  in  trouble.  they  were  the  only  family  he   had  around.  he  still  has  his  parents  but  his  real  family  ,  the  one  he  would  die  for  were  the  serpents.  even  though  ,  it  seems  that  he  doesn’t  care  about  anyone  ,  it  was  all  a  lie.  ’  i  have  to  protect  the  serpents.  ’  was  the  first  thing  he  said  as  he  looked  up  at  her  and  tried  to  not  cry   his  pain  out.  he  have  to  admit  that  she  was  protecting  what  was  important  for  her  as  well.  he  can’t  hold  that  against  her.  ’  you  know  ,  those  guys  around  here.  ’  he  showed  the  serpents  around  them  as  he  looked  up  at  her.  ’  they  are  all  i  have  left.  i’d  die  for  them.  so  getting  hurt  like  that  ,  trust  me.  it’s  for  the  good.  ’

Betty gaze softened, understanding filling them. Loyalty was something she very much got. Family was everything to her, and she was BLESSED enough, PRIVILEGED enough to have a healthy and happy one. She doubted they’d be happy to know she frequented seedy bars, or rode without a helmet, but never for a second did Betty doubt they’d be proud of her. Even when they didn’t see eye to eye, they’d always BELIEVED in her convictions –– that was enough for her. But… not everyone was so lucky.  You have to protect them; I get that. But who protects you? She held his gaze for a beat too long… and blinked. The moment was over. Or, so she hoped.  Not that I care… I don’t.
