     “spin for me, please,” she requested, tacking on the last word with a certain emphasis to show just how nice she was trying to be. “and don’t look so miserable about it, darling. we’re doing this for you!” she watches the bottom of the dress flare outward, nodding slowly as she tilts her head, eyes narrowed. “how do you feel about the length?”

          “ Are we? ” Betty asked, with no lack of wryness. “ Don’t get me wrong, I APPRECIATE the generosity of this… but is all this… really me? ” She couldn’t help but think of red lipstick and baby pink cocktail dresses, and the motor-oil beneath her nails. Betty Cooper could clean up, and she cleaned up nicely, but still…  “ Jaw-dropping hemlines aren’t really me. They’re so… glamorous. What if there’s a zombie apocalypse and we all have to run for our lives? We JOKE, but it could happen! ”
